Boosts for the Leisure and Hospitality
The outlook for leisure & hospitality has been boosted by recent trends, according to Davis Coffer Lyons. Their analysis indicates a rise in the UK’s appetite for eating and drinking out. The leisure and hospitality sector grew by 2.5% in like-for-like sales in the recent six-week festive period compared to the same period in 2018. Moreover, total sales achieved an uplift of 6.5% for pubs, and 2.9% for restaurants.
These uplifts in market activity are expected to continue in 2020. Mark Sheehan, Managing Director, believes “There is a post-election sense of optimism, and food and drink customers have driven the first wave of this during the pre-Christmas period.”. Moreover, Paul Newman Head of Leisure and Hospitality suggests that “With consumer confidence finally improving, brands will look to carry this sales momentum into the New Year by capitalizing on the trends”.
