We are very pleased to announce that Barclays Wealth Management has beaten off a strong group of contenders for the Wealth Manager of the Year prize, sponsored by Kin Capital, at the fourth annual Growth Investor Awards, organised by Intelligent Partnership

Christian Elmes, Partner at Kin Capital, presented the prestigious accolade to Barclays on November 7 at a black-tie gala dinner for over 450 movers and shakers from the UK’s vibrant SME investment community.

Barclays Wealth Management was praised for its principled approach to offering its clients access to alternative investments. Additionally, judges noted the company’s outstanding growth numbers and ample resources Barclays has at hand. UBS won the second prize for impressive growth in EIS allocations, as well as demonstrating a very strong commitment to the spirit of the legislation. Amicus Wealth claimed the one to watch award. The judges found its investing approach fits very well with smaller managers and was conducive to clients debuting in the VCT and EIS spaces.

Christian Elmes commented on the outcome of the competition: “Delighted to see Barclays Wealth pick up first prize for Wealth Manager of the Year award at Growth Investor Event last night. Well deserved recognition for another outstanding year from the Barclays team.”

The Wealth Manager of the Year category recognises wealth management companies that actively promote and optimise research and education on alternative investments to best serve their clients. The panel of judges looked at several factors, including knowledge and insight, application of expertise, promotion of alternative investments, as well as compliance and regulation. This was decided in the context of the size of the client base and the proportion of alternative investments in client portfolios.

Guy Tolhurst, managing director of Intelligent Partnership, commented on judges’ top picks: “Barclays has been able to harness the strength of its alternatives practice to enhance its EIS, VCT and BR businesses. This impressive company’s highly systematic approach to tax-efficient investments has produced exceptionally strong growth figures that make Barclays a deserving winner of this prestigious award.”

“UBS is a great alternative investments market leader. The company has demonstrated a very well-established culture of due diligence and excellent growth in EIS allocations and the proportions of advisers recommending them. It’s very encouraging to see Amicus Wealth’s unfailing support for the first-time tax-efficient investors, as well as keeping abreast with the industry and legislative developments and its meticulous due diligence process.”

The road to the top was very intense for the select three as they competed with other three valiant wealth managers: Carrington Investments, Johnston Capital and Tavistock Wealth.
